About USP&E

Data Center Build gives campus developers one power partner: USP&E designs, builds and operates the plant behind the halls.

About USP&E

Powering Possibility. Built for the Frontier.

USP&E is a power generation company that designs, builds and operates power stations, and Data Center Build is where it explains that offer to campus developers. If your compute halls are ready before the grid is, you need on-site power with a delivery date.

USP&E is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 45001. It has 400+ engineers and project managers, 35+ countries of completed utility-scale work and offices in Colorado Springs, Knoxville, London, Johannesburg, Cape Town and China.

Who USP&E is

USP&E is a power generation company. It designs power plants, buys and supplies the machines that fill them, builds them under EPC or EPCM contracts and runs them under O&M agreements. It holds ISO 9001 and ISO 45001, it has completed utility-scale projects in 35+ countries, and it keeps its focus on the hard sites where speed and accountability decide the outcome. For data centers, that focus becomes campuses that need megawatts on a date.

How a campus power project runs

From site plan to live halls

1. Plan the blocks

Size modular blocks to the phased megawatts of the campus.

2. Build the plant

EPC for turbines or engines, switchgear and fuel supply.

3. Bring halls live

Commission against your tenant dates and hand to O&M.

4. Grow in step

Add N+1 blocks as the next phase signs.

The equipment behind it

USP&E offers new and surplus gas turbines, GE Frame 6B remanufactured to zero hours in our own shop, including units for Texas hyperscale work, and the modular FX-45: a 45 MW open-cycle block, or 108 MW in a 2×1 combined-cycle layout, with hyperscale slots from 2028.

Where the schedule cannot wait, temporary bridge power holds the campus while permanent plant arrives.

What campus teams ask us for

  • Behind-the-meter power an on-site plant that keeps running when the grid queue stretches.
  • Cooling and power together co-design so water, electrical and thermal loads agree.
  • Diesel comparison a clear view of gas against diesel backup for your duty.
  • O&M after EPC the team that built the plant stays to run it.

What a good campus power plan contains

Developers tend to ask for megawatts. A plan asks for a sequence: how many megawatts in phase one, how fast the next phase follows, which loads are firm and which are flexible, and where cooling energy comes from. Modular blocks suit that sequence because each block is a unit of purchase, a unit of redundancy and a unit of maintenance.

We build the plan around N+1 modular blocks, phased megawatts and a clear handover into operations. Gas turbines and natural gas engine stations both appear in the options, since fuel supply and permitting differ by region.

Regions and teams

Data center growth sits in the USA, the UK, Africa and the Gulf, and our offices follow it. Colorado Springs and Knoxville serve North American campuses, London covers Europe, Johannesburg and Cape Town cover Africa, and our China office supports supply chains. A campus developer deals with one USP&E team whichever region the site is in.
