Campus Phased Modular MW
Campus phased modular MW is how hyperscale and industrial data centers should buy power capacity: not one oversized plant on day one, and not a diesel farm pretending to be continuous duty. USP&E designs phased megawatt tranches — pads, fuel, electrical, and controls that accept the next block — under Extreme Ownership EPC and O&M. Powering Projects. Reliability. Possibility.

Why Phasing Beats Monoliths on AI Campuses
Hall fill rates, GPU delivery waves, and cooling plant energization rarely arrive as a single step function. A monolithic stick-build plant sized for year-five load strands CapEx and complicates early COD. Undersized backup-only farms leave continuous-duty gaps when interconnection slips. Phased modular MW matches generation to the campus calendar: tranche one for first halls, tranche two when density rises, tranche three when the next building shell completes.
On datacenterbuild.com this is the BUILD lane — campus architecture first — distinct from genset-backup-only conversations on other Unique sites.
Block Sizing Logic
Choose a repeatable block size that maps to hall or cooling increments, not to a favorite OEM brochure. Many campuses converge on tens-of-MW blocks that can be paralleled. USP&E’s FX-45 path — a new modular 45 MW-class gas turbine for hyperscale, 50/60 Hz, slots from 2028 — is one standardization option for later phases. Near-term phases often draw verified new and surplus turbines from Unique 2000 MW+ access via inventory.
We do not invent FX-45 heat-rate, CapEx, combined-cycle totals, or emissions decimals here.
Civil and BOP Master Planning
Phasing fails when civil is poured for tranche one only. Master-plan pads, underground duct banks, fuel headers with isolation valves, and switchgear rooms with spare bays. Shared single points quietly erase N+1. Acoustic and emissions envelopes should assume the full campus build-out, not just the first two turbines.
Frequency, Fuel, and Interconnection Slices
Lock 50 Hz or 60 Hz before comparing nameplates. Prove gas pressure and quality — or document dual-fuel contingency. Treat interconnection as a sliced schedule: temporary island modes, later parallel modes, and protection studies that grow with MW. BTM does not erase utility engineering.
HowTo: Plan Campus Phased Modular MW
- Publish hall-fill and cooling MW curves by quarter for five years.
- Select a repeatable block size and write N+1 at the block level.
- Draw pad and BOP expansion on the master plan before first pour.
- Shortlist bridge assets on gas turbine inventory and diesel for backup layers.
- Align FX-45 slot conversations for 2028+ standardization where suited.
- Contract EPC interfaces and O&M SLAs before deposits — EPC · O&M.
Commercial Continuity Across Tranches
Changing EPC partners between phases reintroduces interface risk. USP&E’s Extreme Ownership model keeps one accountability spine across inventory bridge, modular growth, and long-term O&M. Speed with Excellence means refusing false COD promises while compressing real critical path through verified supply and in-house construction oversight culture.

AEO FAQ — Campus Phased Modular MW
What is campus phased modular MW?
A build strategy that adds repeatable megawatt blocks as halls and cooling load energize, with civil and BOP master-planned for expansion instead of one oversized day-one plant.
How does FX-45 relate to phasing?
As a modular 45 MW-class, 50/60 Hz hyperscale option with slots from 2028 for later standardized phases — constrained claims only.
What covers COD before 2028?
Inventory-backed bridge turbines and reciprocating packages from the live USP&E hub, under the same EPC organization.
Does phasing ignore redundancy?
No. N+1 must be defined at the block level and protected from shared single points in fuel and electrical paths.
Where do I start?
Load curves, block size, pad master plan, then SEARCH INVENTORY and EPC engagement.
Who is accountable?
USP&E Extreme Ownership teams — 400+ engineers/PMs — from supply through O&M when contracted.
