EPC & O&M for Data Center Campus Builds

##

Data center O&M after EPC is where campus power architecture either proves Reliability or reveals interface gaps left by fragmented delivery. USP&E designs Extreme Ownership so operations, maintenance, spare logistics, and monitoring continue under the same accountability spine that built the plant. Possibility without uptime is unfinished work.

Extreme Ownership Across the Build Lifecycle

Buyers searching new gas turbines for campus builds should still start with architecture. New modular platforms (including FX-45 constrained path) and brand-agnostic OEM families are selected against duty, frequency, and schedule. Inventory bridges gaps when OEM queues threaten COD. See also modular gas turbines for data center build.

Engineering — Architecture First

Build programs start with feasibility and owner’s engineering: load curves by hall phase, cooling parasitic MW, N+1 definitions, fuel gas studies, protection philosophy, and pad master plans that accept later modular blocks without tearing up civil. SmartPower-style data pathways can be embedded from design so O&M monitoring is not an afterthought.

Procurement — Brand-Agnostic, Inventory-Backed

USP&E is brand-agnostic. We select major OEM platforms that fit the duty — including families commonly used on hyperscale and industrial projects — and pair them with Unique 2000 MW+ new/surplus access when queues threaten COD.

Construction & Commissioning

Scope covers civil, mechanical, electrical, fuel systems, controls, and balance of plant. Commissioning includes load demonstration, protection proving, and operator readiness — not a paper handover.

O&M After Energization

Data center power co-design with cooling means generation blocks, transformers, and fuel systems are sized against IT load and cooling parasitics — not against IT nameplates alone. AI and high-density halls can make cooling MW rival compute MW in harsh ambients. USP&E insists campus builds share load curves before pads are poured. Powering Projects requires that honesty.

Cooling parasitics belong in the same load study that sizes Frame output. Data center builds that ignore heat rejection until late design force derate honesty the hard way.

Commercial Structures

  • Turnkey EPC purchase with single-point accountability
  • EPCM / owner’s engineer support where clients retain construction contracts
  • BOO/BOOT and PPA-oriented structures where suited to the market
  • Performance-oriented long-term O&M after commercial operation

Temporary diesel or early bridge turbines often stay longer than the Gantt chart predicted. Campus programmes should therefore budget O&M, fuel, and spare parts for temporary assets until permanent gas turbine generators complete proving runs. Used or new gas turbines selected as bridges need the same evidence discipline as permanent packages, including transport envelopes and foundation checks that match the temporary pad design.
